What is a Gigamon TAP?
A Test Access Point (TAP) is the only viable data access technology to monitor a communications link for today's business networks. TAPs are completely passive devices and do not introduce any additional jitter or distortion. TAPs are not addressable network devices and therefore cannot be hacked. A TAP is IP agnostic and does not care if the traffic is IPv4 or IPv6 - it passes all traffic through.
The modular G-TAP system allows you to tap up to 8 optical uplinks with management of individual TAPs/Links not affecting other TAPS/Links. G-TAP products are totally photonic for absolute fault tolerance.
G-TAPs can be external or built-in to eliminate the need for extra cabling and rack space. Gigamon G-TAPs are available for all Ethernet speeds and media including 10/100/1000 and now 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
The newest Gigamon G-TAP A (Always On) Series will also be available through Netlink.
